Blair's enduring legacy

Blair’s story emphasizes a lifelong, close-knit relationship with his wife, Judy, and their children, Jo, Rob, and Andy. He will be remembered for the "great life" he and Judy built together. He will also likely be remembered for his lifelong dedication to golf, a sport that spanned his childhood lessons with Jack McLean to his university achievements and his active participation in tournaments.

Blair's lifelong passion for golf

Golf was Blair’s lifelong passion. He began lessons at age six and played extensively throughout his life, including at the Masterton, Belmont, and Glen Eagles golf clubs, as well as during his time at university in Dunedin. He achieved a scratch handicap, won several championships (including the Otago University champs), and recorded seven holes-in-one. He also organized a corporate golf tournament while working at C&A Odlins.

A life rich in sports and activities

Beyond golf, Blair was actively involved in many sports. During school, he was a sporty individual, playing on the First Eleven cricket and soccer teams. He also played rugby, though he noted he did not enjoy it as much. He regularly played squash while visiting Auckland for work, and enjoyed horse riding, shooting, and playing indoor bowls. Blair also had a strong interest in farming and animal husbandry, often seeking out farm work, including handling and feeding show bulls and sheep. He also enjoyed and had experience judging Aberdeen Angus cattle.

"His enthusiasm for life and unwavering dedication to his passions were truly inspiring."
